Do I need the keystore password?

No. Certificate chains are stored unencrypted inside a keystore, so fingerprints can be read without a password.

Is my keystore uploaded?

Never. The file is parsed in your browser and nothing leaves your device.

Can it read my private key?

No, and it does not try. Private key material stays encrypted and is skipped entirely.

Which formats are supported?

Classic JKS and JCEKS keystores are parsed with aliases. PKCS#12 and BKS files fall back to a raw certificate scan, which finds the certificates but not the alias names.

Where do I find the debug keystore?

It is usually at ~/.android/debug.keystore on macOS and Linux, or %USERPROFILE%\.android\debug.keystore on Windows.

Which fingerprint does Firebase want?

Firebase accepts SHA-1 and SHA-256; Google Sign-In and App Links need SHA-256.
