Internet Speed Test
Measure download, upload, latency and jitter from your browser.
Connection speed
Download
—Mbps
Upload
—Mbps
Latency
—ms
Jitter
—ms
What the numbers mean
- Download is how fast data reaches you — the number ISPs advertise.
- Upload matters for calls, backups and publishing. It is often far lower than download on cable and DSL.
- Latency is the round trip to the nearest edge server. Under 50 ms feels instant; over 150 ms hurts calls and games.
- Jitter is how much latency varies. High jitter breaks voice and video even on a fast line.
Getting an accurate reading
- Close streaming tabs and pause downloads before testing.
- Wi-Fi caps results — test over Ethernet to measure the line itself.
- Browser-based tests are limited by a single HTTP connection, so gigabit lines usually read lower here than on multi-stream tests.
- Run the test a few times at different hours; congestion changes results more than anything else.
- The test transfers data to and from Cloudflare's edge network. No account, no install, no tracking on our side.
About the Internet Speed Test
Run a real speed test against Cloudflare's edge network: escalating download and upload transfers for an accurate Mbps reading, plus latency and jitter from repeated round trips. No account, no install, no tracking.
